Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 18, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SalaryIndex handles salary submissions, account information, billing records, usage data, and cookies when you use the platform.

1. Our Privacy Approach

SalaryIndex is built for compensation transparency without exposing contributors unnecessarily. We store submitted salary data exactly as reported, label normalized estimates separately, and use public analysis primarily in aggregated or contextualized form.

Some features are intentionally private, such as your account dashboard and salary history. Some pages, such as a salary result page reached by a specific URL, may show contextual details about a single submission. Do not submit information that you are not comfortable using for SalaryIndex analysis.

3. How We Use Information

  • Operate public salary benchmark pages and country-specific salary analysis.
  • Store salary submissions exactly as reported and generate clearly labeled derived estimates.
  • Show aggregated market insights by country, role, company, salary type, location, and experience level.
  • Provide account login, private salary history, editing, archiving, saved comparisons, exports, reports, and premium usage limits.
  • Moderate data, detect spam or abuse, prevent fraud, debug errors, secure the platform, and enforce our Terms of Service.
  • Process subscriptions, billing status, invoices, renewals, cancellations, and payment-provider webhooks.
  • Improve product quality, measure performance, prioritize country launches, and understand feature adoption.
  • Comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, and protect the rights, safety, and integrity of SalaryIndex and its users.

4. Salary Data And Public Benchmarks

Salary submissions may contribute to public benchmark pages after minimum sample thresholds, moderation, and quality checks. Public benchmark pages may group or filter data by country, role, company, location, salary type, experience, work type, and period.

We aim to avoid directly identifying contributors in public benchmark outputs. However, salary data can be sensitive, and small samples or very specific combinations of role, company, location, and timing can increase re-identification risk. We may suppress, aggregate, delay, moderate, or remove data where needed to reduce that risk.

5. Legal Bases Where Applicable

Where privacy laws such as the GDPR or UK GDPR apply, our legal bases may include performance of a contract, legitimate interests, consent, and compliance with legal obligations.

Examples include contract necessity for account, billing, and premium features; legitimate interests for security, moderation, product improvement, fraud prevention, and aggregated salary analysis; consent for optional salary submissions or non-essential cookies where required; and legal obligations for tax, accounting, consumer, and regulatory requirements.

6. How We Share Information

  • Service providers that help us run SalaryIndex, such as hosting, database, authentication, email, security, analytics, support, and payment infrastructure providers.
  • Supabase for authentication, database, account, and platform infrastructure.
  • Lemon Squeezy for hosted checkout, subscription management, billing records, tax handling, and payment-provider customer support where it acts as merchant of record.
  • Public users, but only through SalaryIndex pages that show aggregated benchmarks, contextualized salary result pages, or company and role market analysis.
  • Professional advisers, regulators, law enforcement, courts, or other parties when required by law or needed to protect legal rights.
  • A successor organization if SalaryIndex is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate privacy protections.

We do not currently sell personal information. We also do not use individual salary submissions to create advertising profiles.

7. Cookies And Similar Technologies

SalaryIndex uses cookies and similar technologies for authentication, security, preferences, platform operation, and, where enabled, analytics. Non-essential analytics or marketing technologies should be optional where local law requires consent.

For more detail, see our Cookie Policy.

8. Data Retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide SalaryIndex, maintain reliable benchmark history, support private account features, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent abuse, and maintain backups.

Salary submissions may remain in aggregated or de-identified analysis even after account changes, unless removal is required by law or technically feasible without harming benchmark integrity. Archived submissions are removed from active public analysis but may remain in your private archive and operational records.

9. Security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect information, including authenticated access controls, server-side data handling, provider security controls, webhook signature validation for billing events, and restricted administrative access.

No internet service is perfectly secure. You should keep your email account secure because SalaryIndex login may depend on email-based authentication.

10. International Processing

SalaryIndex is a global salary platform. Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live, including locations where our infrastructure, authentication, payment, support, or security providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

11. Your Choices And Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights:

  • Access or request a copy of personal information associated with your account.
  • Correct inaccurate account information or, where available, edit eligible salary submissions within the product correction window.
  • Delete or archive certain personal information, subject to legal, security, billing, fraud-prevention, backup, and legitimate business retention needs.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing where applicable law gives you that right.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Opt out of non-essential cookies or similar technologies where such choices are required or offered.
  • Ask whether SalaryIndex sells or shares personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. SalaryIndex does not currently sell personal information.

We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests. Some rights are limited by law, fraud prevention, security, billing, backup, and benchmark-integrity needs.

12. Children

SalaryIndex is intended for working professionals and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or a higher age where local law requires it. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

13. Changes To This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as SalaryIndex changes its features, country coverage, providers, legal requirements, or business model. The date above shows the latest published version. If changes are material, we will try to provide reasonable notice.
