Terms of Service
Last updated: June 18, 2026
These terms set the rules for using SalaryIndex salary benchmarks, anonymous submissions, accounts, paid plans, exports, and recruiter reporting features.
1. Acceptance Of These Terms
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of SalaryIndex, including public salary benchmark pages, account features, salary submission flows, premium reports, exports, and related services.
By using SalaryIndex, creating an account, submitting salary information, or purchasing a paid plan, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, you should not use the service.
2. What SalaryIndex Provides
SalaryIndex is a salary transparency and market benchmark platform. It lets users search compensation data by country, role, company, salary type, location, and experience level, and it lets contributors submit salary data for anonymous market analysis.
SalaryIndex preserves submitted salary data as reported and may show separate normalized estimates for comparison. Normalized estimates are derived analysis, not replacements for the original submission.
3. Informational Use Only
Salary benchmarks, percentiles, normalized estimates, recruiter reports, exports, and other SalaryIndex insights are provided for informational purposes only.
They are not payroll, tax, legal, accounting, immigration, employment, investment, or financial advice. You are responsible for evaluating whether any information is suitable for your circumstances and for consulting qualified professionals where needed.
4. Accounts And Security
Some features require an account, such as private salary history, billing, saved comparisons, exports, reports, and certain premium usage limits. You are responsible for keeping your login access secure and for activity that happens through your account.
You must provide accurate account information and keep it reasonably up to date. We may restrict or suspend access if we believe an account is being misused, compromised, or used in a way that harms SalaryIndex, other users, or the integrity of the data.
5. Salary Submissions
You may submit salary and job-related information only if you have the right to provide it and the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge. Do not submit confidential employer documents, trade secrets, personal data about other people, or content that identifies another individual without permission.
By submitting salary data, you give SalaryIndex permission to store, process, moderate, aggregate, analyze, display, and use that submission to operate and improve the platform. Public outputs are intended to be aggregated or contextualized so individual contributors are not directly identified.
6. Data Quality And Moderation
SalaryIndex may review, normalize, flag, reject, remove, combine, or limit data where needed to reduce spam, fraud, duplicates, obvious errors, abuse, or unsafe disclosure.
We do not guarantee that every submission is complete, verified, current, or representative of the entire market. Sample sizes, local salary conventions, gross/net differences, currency, timing, and contributor mix can affect any benchmark.
7. Paid Plans, Billing, And Usage Limits
SalaryIndex may offer free and paid plans with different limits and features, including detail page access, analysis runs, CSV exports, PDF reports, saved comparisons, and recruiter benchmark workflows. Current plan descriptions are shown on the pricing and billing pages.
Paid checkout and payment processing may be provided by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. Your payment, tax, invoice, renewal, and charge handling may also be governed by the checkout terms shown by Lemon Squeezy at purchase.
Plan limits may reset on daily, monthly, annual, or other windows depending on the feature. We may update limits, plan names, prices, and features prospectively, while trying to avoid materially reducing active paid access without reasonable notice.
8. Cancellations And Refunds
You can manage plan changes and cancellation through SalaryIndex billing flows or the payment provider flows made available to you. Cancellation usually stops future renewals, but it may not automatically refund past charges or the current billing period.
Refund eligibility may depend on the payment provider, local consumer law, the plan purchased, and whether the paid service has already been used. Any mandatory consumer rights in your location continue to apply.
9. Acceptable Use
You must not scrape, copy at scale, resell, reverse engineer, overload, attack, bypass access controls, interfere with security, or use automated systems in a way that harms SalaryIndex or its users.
You must not use SalaryIndex to submit false data, manipulate benchmarks, harass others, violate law, infringe rights, make discriminatory employment decisions, or build a competing dataset through bulk extraction.
10. Intellectual Property
SalaryIndex, including its software, design, brand, product structure, reports, generated analysis, aggregated datasets, and other platform materials, is owned by SalaryIndex or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Subject to these terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use SalaryIndex for personal, professional, or internal business benchmarking purposes. This does not allow resale, sublicensing, bulk export, or redistribution unless we agree in writing.
11. Third-Party Services
SalaryIndex may rely on third-party providers for authentication, hosting, payments, analytics, email, security, database infrastructure, and other operational services.
Third-party services may have their own terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for third-party websites or services that we do not control.
12. Privacy And Cookies
Our handling of personal data, salary submissions, account information, cookies, and similar technologies is described in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
By using SalaryIndex, you acknowledge that these policies explain important parts of how the platform operates.
13. Service Availability And Changes
We aim to keep SalaryIndex available and useful, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, permanent availability of any feature, or preservation of every public page.
We may change, pause, discontinue, or restrict parts of the service for maintenance, security, legal, product, or business reasons.
14. Disclaimers
SalaryIndex is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted availability.
No salary benchmark can guarantee a compensation outcome, job offer, hiring decision, negotiation result, compliance position, or payroll calculation.
15. Limitation Of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SalaryIndex will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, business interruption, or employment-related decisions arising from use of the service.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid to SalaryIndex for the service in the three months before the claim or USD 100, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
16. Termination
You may stop using SalaryIndex at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms, create legal or security risk, abuse the service, or use the platform in a way that undermines data integrity.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including intellectual property, payment obligations, disclaimers, liability limits, and submitted-data permissions, will continue to apply.
17. Changes To These Terms
We may update these terms as the product, legal requirements, payment flows, or business model changes. The date below shows the latest published version.
If changes are material, we will try to provide reasonable notice through the site, account interface, email, or another appropriate channel. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
